Lego Serious Play
Inevitably I get asked what Lego Serious Play is. One way to find out is to look at the site which you can find here http://www.seriousplay.com/ Alternatively read below first.
Simply, it’s what it says. Playing with Lego but for serious purpose. As human beings we build most of our lives. We build blocks or dolls houses as children, our first relationships as teenagers and our careers and home lives as adults.
Building with Lego allows us to look at where we are now, who we “be”, how we fit into a team, how we might not, how other members of the team fit in and what their individual and shared identities are. Builds will typically externalise much of what is kept internal – unsaid stuff. The process allows for constructive dialogue between team members and more importantly it builds trust and respect, and a productive working atmosphere.
Strategy builds will assist a team in working out a way forward by examining the landscape, agents and by capturing insights that develop from a teams constructions. Team builds will typically create deep trust and respect between members and allow for a better productivity that will reap benefits from its new found bond.
Lego works equally well with personal development work too. If you have recently found yourself redundant, looking for a new job or career change, or simply stuck in a rut, building will enable you to see a clear way forward.
